TROOPS ON GUARD
KEY POINTS IN SYRIA POLICE FIRE ON MOBS (Reed. March 21, 3 p.m.) DAMASCUS, March 20. French troops are guarding strategic positions in Syria, following disturbances after which France took over the maintenance of internal security. Demonstrations have been forbidden. There is no indication of the Ministerial crisis ending. The Beirut correspondent of The Times, reports that five persons were killed and 30 wounded on March 19, in Damascus, when the police fired on student demonstrators including girls.
