Mr. W. P. Endean, MP., for Remuera, will leave Auckland for Sydney by the Awatea, accompanied by Mrs. Endean and their daughter.

New members elected to the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon were as follows: Messrs. I. D. Bramwell, A. T. Garth, and H. C. Haines.

Mr. T. Lambert, Wairoa, is a patient in a Hastings private hospital. Mi-. Lambert, who with Mrs. Lambert, had been on a tour of the North Island, was on his way home, when he took ill jn Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Garth, with their daughter, Miss Garth, are guests at the Masonic Hotel. Mr. Garth will take over the managership of the Gisborne branch, of the ,Bank of New Zealand from: the end of the month, when Mr. Adam Wilson, the present manager in Gisborne, retires from the service of the bank. Mr. Garth was formerly assistant manager in Christchurch.

Mr. E. Ricliards, a member of the municipal bus department's staff, has resigned his position. The resignation was notified to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by the bus manager, Mr. K. G. Ball, who reported that Mr. Richards had given many years' faithful service in various capacities on the tramways and on the bus services. "His attention to duty and tactful manner have been of great assistance in building up the goodwill of the public," the manager added.

On the occasion of his retirement from the chamber by reason of his leaving the district, Mr. Adam Wilson was farewelled by the president, Mr. H. H. DeCosta, at yesterday afternoon's meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce. The president said that Mr. Wilson was retiring from the managership of the Gisborne branch of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr. Wilson had been a keen member of the chamber for 10 years, and on its behalf he wished him every happiness in his retirement, which would be spent in Napier. Mr. Wilson briefly responded. The resignation of a keen worker in club interests was accepted at a meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Club, held on Monday evening, when Mr. A. C. Paine intimated that he would be obliged to surrender the duties of honorary treasurer owing to his transfer to Wellington. Mr. Paine has been treasurer of the club and secretary of the social committee, and has done valuable work in connection with regatta organisation, as well as in the boats and kv his club posts. The club captain, Mr. A. F. Allen, commenting upon his resignation, remarked that they could ill afford to lose a member of Mr. Paint's calibre, both as an oarsman and as an executive officer. On the motion of the retiring treasurer, Mr. J. Skcet was appointed to the vacancy, for the balance of the club's financial year.
