St. Percy's" because they are detrimental ito the correct speech and riiiseioline ol' children was voieod,/at a conference of North, Mid and South Canterbury executives of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, held at Tim-am yesterday. The conference also agreed to urge the Government to adopt a more Wberal policy -towards the admission of a selected number of refugees from Europe into New Zealand. A further remit carried was that, owing to the difficulty of securing domestic help in the country, the import restrictions on electric and other labour-saving devices be removed and the prices modified. The conference also urged the abolition of hospital rates, contending that hospitals should 'be wholly maintained from the social security fund.
