OBITUARY
DEATH IN 81 ST TEAR
The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. William Gribble, a wellknown bowler, in his eighty-first year. Mr. Gribble was born in 1858 on his father's farm of 17 acres at the foot of Mount Eden, an area through which Esplanade road now runs. His father had arrived in New Zealand in 1842 in the ship Jane Gifford, and when Mr. Gribble was three yeai's old the family left for South Australia. They remained there for eight years, returning to the Dominion in the early days of the opening of the Thames goldflelds.
