NEW REGATTA FOUR
GISBORNE CLUBS NEED TENDERS TO BE SOUGHT SCULLING CUP ENTRIES Tenders are to be sought by the executive of the Gisborne Rowing Club for the supply of a new regatta four-oar boat, and the more attractive offers will be submitted to a special general meeting oi" the club as early as possible. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the executive on Monday evening, at which were present Messrs. A. F. Allen, club captain, A. C. Paine, L. Winstanley, J. Skeet, R. Mahon, E. O'Halloran, T, Bright, and K. G. Monk, lion, secretary. It was pointed out that, in two recent trials the old regatta boat, now 10 years of age, had begun to show signs of senility. In both oases, a practice boat had finished ahead of the regatta boat, by margins of more than two lengths, despite an exchange of crews. It was considered that the boat used for last Saturday's regatta would not see another hard season out, and that immediate steps should be taken to replace it. The entries for the Buscke Cup sculling event, the principal single:. fixture on the programme, were considered excellent, and handicaps were allotted and races drawn as under:—D. Jones, ssec, v. P. Sceats, ssec; T. Bright, 15sec, v. J. Nelson, Bsec; T. Williams, lOsec, v. S. Allen, Bsec; A. M. Terry, 3sec., v. H. Wall, 25sec; H. Patterson, 25sec, v. J. Skeet, lOsec; L. Winstanley, scr., v. R. Sealy, ssec; A. F. Allen, ssec, a bye.
