USE OF HOSES
RESTRICTED PERIOD BREACHES OP BY-LAW Arising out of their having used hoses in the Gisborne Borough during a restricted period, charges were preferred against two residents in the Magistrate's Court to-day. Outlining the circumstances, the borough solicitor, Mr. H. D. Chrisp, said that the charges were the first heard arising out of these breaches of the borough by-laws. Appearing for Muriel Muir, Mr. A. Stock said that his client had seen a car being cleaned in a service station and had gone home and commenced to wash her own car. The defendant was fined 10s, with costs to the same amount. James Gunn, a mechanic, who was the second offender in this respect, •told Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., that he had been cleaning a car at his home at t,he request of his employer.
The magistrate commented that, in the circumstances, the charge should have been preferred against the defendant's employer and convicted and discharged Gunn.
