American basketball has been taken up enthusiastically by member's of the Gisborne Y.M.C.A. this autumn and in view of the interest in the spor: an exhibition match has been arranged for next Friday eveningSupporters of the game consider that Gisborne is fortunate in having 't number of playerg who formerly irePided in the United States or Canada, where that type of basketball has a big following. The players ta Icing part in Friday's match, whit* will be played in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium, will be Mr. R. O. Blackwcll,. Y.M.C.A. physical director, and two other ex-Canadians, Elder W. Anderson and Mr. Salmon, as well as three players from the United States, Elders D. Lambert. C. Fawson and G. Acomb, and four members of the Y.M.C.A.
