Borough Streets
Sir,—l have road with toleration the quaint humour of certain Gisborne residents, and can only say. "Heaven help them!" It must be obvious to any clear-thinking person that the Gisborne Borough Council has little money for the terrific amount of work to be done Streets, roads, watersupply, water and sewerage extension all require attention. Mangapapa. Ormoncl road and Upper Stout street require water and sewers. The propertyowners have been paying rates for these amenities for years, and have had no modern assistance. It is time that water and sewers ran up these sticets to allow a popular suburb t? become a great one. My suggestion is that the Borough Council increase the rates 3ci in the pound, and get something done for this area, and improve the st-:eetd elsewhere where necessary. The .average ratepayer is rated on an unimproved value of property worth about £llO. An extra 30s or thereabouts a year will not hurt him. Let us stop the idiotic wrangling and get something done. HOPEFUL.
