LICENSING COMMITTEE

WEI DING TON SUBURBS (Por Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Although voting was conducted on the full Parliamentary franchise, little interest was shown in the election of the licensing committee for Wellington Suburbs, the only poll necessary in the city. Wellington Suburbs was a no-license district until the alteration’of the boundaries before the last general election. The result of the poll is:—Arthur Herbert Carman, 405; Ronald Grant. 383; Percy Dowse, 376; William Francis Hornig, 351; Edwin Frank Hollands, 335 (elected); Peter Michael Butler. 325; Joseph Huggan, 301. Messrs Carman and Dowse are members of the New Zealand Labour Party, ur are Messrs. Butler and Huggan, the two unsusccessful candidates.
