TWO RUSSIANS CONVICTED WOMAN ACQUITTED LOS ANGELES. March 11. The two Russians, Mikhail Gorin and Hafis Salich, who were indicted by a grand jury on December 21 on charges of espionage, were convicted to-day on three counts. Gorin's wife was acquitted. Sentences on the two men were deferred pending an appeal. Saliqh was accused of selling naval secrets to Gorin for transmission to Moscow. He said the information concerned Japanese activities and pleaded that Japan was a common enemy to the United States and Russia. He added that he had not conveyed anything damaging to the defences of the United States.
