CLASH WITH ARAB FORCE
BRITISH IN PALESTINE USE OF 15 PLANES (Reed. March 13, 2.40 p.m.) JERUSALEM. March 12. A clash occurred on the Transjordan frontier between police and the Arab legion. Fifteen air force planes routed a large body of uniformed Arab terrorists". The battle 'began yesterday and ended to-day. The British commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Chrystall, directed the engagement from an aeroplane, at which terrorists fired, seriously wounding the pilot, Sergeant Coggins, who landed safely.
A British officer, 40 terrorists and four Arab legionaries are reported to have been killed.
