Although on the face of tilings there was nothing unusual about the action of a junior cricket team in Wellington in declaring its innings closed when over 400 runs were made for the loss of hall a dozen wickets, the innings was closed for a very good and sufficient reason. Forcefulncss in run-making took heavy toll of the bats on hand, and it was because all the side's bats had been broken that the innings was ended.
