RECOVERY CONTINUES
HOME STOCK EXCHANGE SIXTH SUCCESSIVE WEEK MORE HOPEFUL OUTLOOK (Eli'c. Tol. CoDyrii:ht—United Press Assn.) (.Rec. March 11. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 10. The recovery of the Stock Exchange •continued for the sixth successive week, gilt-edged securities ending very strong.
The City professes great hopes from an early termination of the Spanish War, believing that Italy's demands on France will be more temperate than press polemics suggest, while Germany is facing grave economic and financial stresses which will render a peaceful interlude imperative and give brighter chances of an early AngloGerman trade and export competition agreement.
Foreign bonds have been buoyant. British and Dominions stocks went steadily ahead. There has been slight profit-taking in New Zealand securities after the recent sharp advance.
