JAPANESE SAILOR RESCUE BY ARM 1 . DHOW LONDON. March 2. Fayasi, a 17-year-old deckhand in the Japanese vessel Africa Maru, became homesick ofT the Kenya coast, says the Daily Herald. He launched a lifeboat with the intention of "returning to Japan somehow," but omitted to fill the plug-hole and the lifeboat sank. t Fayasi, supported by a lifebelt, floated for two days, being bitten by fish, sea birds and flies. He was in an agony of thirst when he was rescued by an Arab dhow and taken to Mombassa, where he arrived at the same time as the Africa Maru.
