STORE SHEEP RATES FIRM 11EEF VALUES DECLINE Little interest was displayed by buyers in either the fat cattle or fat sheep sections at the Matawhero stock sale to-day, while only a fair demand existed for the rather unattractive offering of store sheep. The market for store sheep remained firm, but beef values declined. Beef There was poor competition in the beef section and the market was easier. The ewe lambs yarded were generally medium or cull types, which sold from 4s lOd to 5s sd, with a fairly good pen at 9s. Wethers brought 10s 2d to 12s Gd, with a medium pen at 8s 6d. A good pen of 4, G and 8-tobth ewes was passed in at 12s 7d, while aged ewes ranged from 2 S 3d to 4s 7d. The yarding generally was not attractive and the demand only fair. Prices: — Lambs. —‘Forty-nine, woolly, well grown, a good conditioned pen, 10s lOd; 37, medium size, woolly, store condition, 3s 9d; 30, woolly, full of size and condition, passed in at 9s and sold later at 10s; GO, shorn, off high country, medium size, no condition, 3s 7d. .

Southdown lambs. —Eighteen, fairly good size, fresh condition, 8s Gd; 111, a good pen, mostly forward, (pi 7s 10d; 62, well grown, in good order, 8s lOd. i

Wethers—One hundred land thirty 2-tooths, good average size, good store condition, 10s 2d; 456, 4tftoths, good store condition, 12s Cd; 93, a few small, store condition, 8s Gd.

Breeding Ewes.—One hundred and twelve, 4, G and 8-tooth, on account of Mr. W. W. Smith, a good lusty pen, (p) 12s 7d; 141, fairly good teeth, good store condition, 5s 3d. Aged Ewes. —Scvent-two, _ _ faulty mouths, ordinary store condition, 2s Gd: 4(5, fiairly good mouths, store condition, 4s 7d; SG, fair teeth, store condition, 4s 4d; 15, fair mouths, forward, 4s 4d; 15, forward, 4s 4d: 90, sound mouths, little condition, 2s 3d: 21, sound teeth, fair condition, 2s lid.

Two-tooth Ewes.—One hundred and fifteen, fairly good .size, in good 'order, (p) 13s 4d; 17, good condition, a sturdy pen, 15s Gd. Ewe Lambs—Fifty-three, medium size, good store condition, shorn, 9s; 29, small, woolly, store condition, 4s lOd; G 9, shorn, off high country, medium size, little condition, ss; 29, medium size, shorn, little condition. 4s lOd; 63, woolly, medium to good size, average condition, 5s sd.
