CENTRES’ CONFERENCE
REMITS CONSIDERED

By a ,margiin of one vote, the conference of delegates of amateur athletic centres last evening rejected a remit from the Otago centre seeking the inclusion of a six-mile event in the programme at national meetings.
The conference also carried a motion stating it considered it detrimental for schoolboys to over-indulge in competitions at school athletic
gatherings. An Otago remit advocating the reinstatement of professional athletes ir.d officials as a centennial year move was rejected. It decided to recommend to the Daren't body that the presidency be held by the icenbre conducting the national championships. Over 100 visiting -competitors are present for the New Zealand championships commencing this -afternoon.
