FEVERISH TRAINING
GERMAN PREPARATIONS BERLIN PRESS CAMPAIGN (LONDON, March 2. The appearance in some Lbndon newspapers of sensational messages about German military preparations has greatly offended German high quarters. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that authoritative German quarters declare that, despite the coming trade talks, Anglo-German relations must now be regarded as cooler than at any time since the Munich agreement. “Mr. Chamberlain’s emphasis in his speech of Britain's armed strength," adds the correspondent, “has finally persuaded many responsible Germans that the democracies only used the Munich agreement to gain time.”. The Telegraph’s correspondent adds: “All that can be said with certainty Ls that military training is proceeding almost feverishly. “Possibly more of the 1900-13 classes of recruits than usual will be given short periods of training. “This points to a desire to be ready for all eventualities, rather than a definite plan of action. There is undoubtedly a press campaign to persuade Germans that the democracies are threatening them."
