WAIROA SOCIETY’S LOSS
(Special to tho IToruUl.) WAIROA, this day. Reference to the recent death of the society's treasurer, Mr. .1. W. B. Macdonald, was made by the president, Mr .A. T. Carroll, at the meeting of the Wairoa County A. and P. Society. Mr. Carroll stated that they all realised the value to the society of the late Mr. Macdonald’.s work, which covered 15 years as treasurer. Referring to Mr. Macdonald’s association with the society, Mr. 11. Bayley said that at one stage the society owed £1750 and Mr. Macdonald lived to see that debt wined out. It was very good the the townspeople to help the society, which would be the poorer for Mr. Macdonald’s loss. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect.
