75-YEAR WAR ENDED
K.K.Iv. AND CATHOLICS NEW YORK, Jan. 20. The Ku Klux Klan, hooded mystic organisation, to-day made peace with the Roman Catholic Church—their sworn enemy for seventy-five years when their Imperial wizard shook hands with Cardinal Dougherty, Archbishop of Philadelphia. Night-riding members of the Klan, anti-negro and anti-Jewish, besides being anti-Roman Catholic, have lynched, tarred and feathered and beaten their “enemies.”
But all this was changed at Atlanta, Georgia, when the cathedral of Christ the King was dedicated. Dr. Hiram Wesley Evans, the Klan s imperial wizard, walked up to the cardinal, smiled, and grasped his hand.
