Arson Admitted
A plea -of guilty to a charge of committing arson at Duck Creek on January 23 by wilfully setting fire to a haystack acid cowshed was entered in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court 'byFrederick David Thompson, aged 20, a labourer. The accused was committed to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence. "I knew when I set fire to the hay that the cow-shed would catch fire,” said accused in his statement. ‘‘lt was not because there was any ill-feeling between the family and myself that I set fire rk the hay. It was Just that it ran into my head to do it.”
