CHOICE BY LOT SOON CHUNGKING. Feb. 2G. It is officially announced that the choosing of the fourteenth reincarnation of tire Dalai Lama will occur at Lhasa next summer. Since the last Dalai Lama died in 1933 religious leaders have been seeking his successor. The chosen child must have been born at the exact hour of the preceding Dalai Lama’s death. Three babies have been found who conform to this and other signs, indicating possible reincarnation. The final choice will be made by lot. The Dalai Lama, who is always chosen when a child, is nominally supreme both in civil and religious affairs.
