WOMEN AT BOWLS
GISBORNE VISITORS TO I LB. Ideal weather greeted the Gisborne women's bowling team when they paid a visit to the Herelaunga Bowling Club’s greens on Tuesday to play the Hastings women's team. The greens were fast and in splendid order, and a marked knowledge of the game was evident.
Some first-class games were witnessed. the home team coming out the victors ’by 11 to 7. The teams were:—
Hcretaunga.—Mesdames Redwood. Parkinson, Martin and Dunn. Gisborne Kahutia Club. —Mesdames Corlett, Davy, Dunlop and IVtcLauehlan. At Port Ahuriri The Gisborne women bowlers defeated the Port Ahuriri bowlers by 21 to 15 after -an exciting game at the latter club’s rinks on Tuesday. The results were:—Gisborne (Mrs. Dunlop. Mrs. Davy, Mrs. Corbett, Mrs. McLaughlan) 21 v. Port (Mrs. K-reay, Mrs. Stanford, Mrs. North, Mrs. Logan) 15. In a further game yesterday the Gisborneites again defeated the Port Ahuriri bowlers when they met a new team, this time by 23 points to 13. The game was a good one, and better than the score suggests. The result was: Gisborne (Mrs. Dunlop, Mrs. Davy. Mrs. Corbett, Mrs. McLaughlan) 23 v. Port Ahuriri (Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. McCarthy, Mrs. Sinclair, Mrs. McKay) 13.
