BUTTER PRODUCTION
AUSTRALIAN INCREASE
HALF-YEAR'S FIGURES
SYDNEY, Feb. 28
Australian butter production miring the first six months of 1938-3.1 was 2 0Q6,587cwt. or 7 per cent more than the production of 1,874,3G0cwt. in the corresponding period of 1937-38. A bulletin relating to the dairy industry, issued in Canberra yesterday by the Commonwealth Statistician, Dr. Roland Wilson, shows that the increase in output was due chiefly to higher production in Queensland.
Production in New South Wales declined by 5 per cent to 45G,026cwt. In Victoria, production fell from 766,592 cwt. to 660,230 cwt. In Queensland, production increased from 39G,099cwt. to 654,107 cwt. South Australian production was 92,451 cwt.. compared with 103,623 cwt. Western Australia’s production was slightly greater at 92,451 cwt.
