“KITCHEN” TEA PARTY

(Humid Cori'iispondiint.) A “kitchen” tea was given for Miss Molly Ashdown by her many friends, who gathered in the Women s Ins .1tute room and a most enjoyable afternoon ensued. Mrs. R. Montgomery and Mrs. A. E. Gibson, the hostesses received 30 well-wishers, each bringing a gift. Miss Ashdown wore a striped silk dress of pastel shades, with a burnt-straw hat trimmed m the same tonings.

A competition, tail guessing, was won bv Mrs. W. Mortleman, while another, leaf naming, was won by Miss L. Fielder. A gapie of skill, placing a balloon into a basin without touching it, was won by Miss B. Malone. Miss Ashdown opened the gifts assisted by her sister, Miss. Dorothy Ashdown, and Miss A. Gibson. The guests present were Mesdamcs 11. Burgess, C. Korte, F. Korte, C. Hustler, G. Tucker, W. Mortleman, R. McDonald L. Jones, F. Childs, F. Thomas, H. Bulst, N. Thomas, W. Thomas, G. Mortleman, R. Mortleman, C. V. Smith, B. Malone, F. W. Robb, C. Matches, C. Fielder, G. R. Ashdown, D. McKenzie, and Robb; Misses J. Rogers, L. Fielder, B. Malone, D. Korte, J. McDonald, and A. Gibson. A dance was held on Friday night in the Matawai Hall organised by the hall committee. A delicious supper was served by Mesdamcs F. W. Robb, R. Baird, R. McDonald and I. McKenzie. A competition was won by Mr. C. Korte.
