The remaining championship belt matches before the final 10 rounds at 900yds. were fired at the national rifle meeting at Trentham yesterday and, with the completion of these, B. Masefield, of (he Nelson-Marlborough Regiment of Mounted Rifles, is leading for tlie King’s Prize with an aggregate score of 47a out of a possible 500.

By his accurate marksmanship over the long ranges he improved on the one-point, lead he had on Monday night, Two points behind him are A. R. Symons (AshhursU, F. Bowes (Auckland City) and his father. W. N. Masefield (Blenheim), each with 473. Fifth place in the King's Fifty is occupied by F. J. Jeune (Gisborne) with 472. There is a drop of five points to the next highest score.

These matches were fired yesterday, all of them over long ranges. Conditions in the morning were good, more particularly l’or the first men down at the mounds. During the afternoon there was a heavy mirage running in front of the targets. The early morning shooting was watched by Sir Lionel Fletcher, a member of the council of the National Rifle Association of Great Britain, who has been asked iby the council to do what he can to encourage rifle shooting in the British Dominions.

The Auckland Match of 10 rounds at 800 and 900 yards was won by 11 K. Smith (Masterton-Opaki), with 9G. The Australian aggregate for Ihe highest score in the Wellington. Otago and Auckland matches was won by F Bowes (Auckland City) with a score of 241. Second place was filled by A. R. Symons (Ashhurst) with 240. R. Donald (Masterton-Opaki) was the winner of the Southland Match, 10 rounds at 900yds., with 49.
