Sixty Irish Guards recently marched into the gloomy tunnel of Charing Cross underground station. Reason: They had not been given the order to halt, their officer having stopped to ask the time of the next train. He had to race along the platform and shout before leading files could hear him and be recalled from the danger line. 1
