UNIFORM SYSTEM URGED TOWN CLERKS" VIEW (Tor Truss Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The conference of the New Zealand Institute of Town Clerks opened thi morning under the presidency of Mr. B. S. Knox, Lower Hull. The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. Allen, and were also addressed by Mr. T. Jordan, Mayor of Maslertcn, who 'is president of the Municipal Association conference, which will commence to-morrow.
The business opened with a debate on the conduct of elections. The following resolution was carried: “It is desirable that some uniform system of marking ballot papers at local body and general elections ’be adopted.” The conference favoured marking by a | cross.
