Long-range shooting for the championship 'belt commenced at Trentham this morning. The Auckland match of 10 rounds at COO and 900 yards was won by 11. K. Smith (Masterton, Opaki) with 90. Second place was obtained by R. A. .Tones (Ashburton).
The overnight leader for the King’s Prize, B. Masefield (Nelson-Marl-borough) was still in the lead at the luncheon adjournment with B. Bowes (Auckland City) two points behind.
