THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General situation. —Pressure has fallen in the south with the approach of a depression from the Tasman. A deeper depression is centred oil' the central east coast of Australia. Forecast--Winds north-easterly to northerly, light to moderate over the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate to strong, a change to southerlies advancing later from the south. Seas in New Zealand water-, rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and on the west coast of the South Island, elsewhere slight to moderate. In the eastern Tasman light to moderate but freshening northeasterly winds in the northern portion and southerlies in the southern; sea.becoming rather rough to rough. Weather: Scattered rain in western and far southern districts of the South Island and some drizzle later extending along the east coast. Weather for the most part still fair. Temperatures warm, but becoming cooler over the South Island.
