HAICHOW LEFT IN RUINS

A message from Shanghai states that the Domei News Agency claims that Japanese troops have occupied Haichow.
A report from Tokio says that the Japanese captors found Haichow. which was once a flourishing centre of the salt industry and the eastern terminus of the Lunghai railway, in complete ruins, representing the incarnation of the "scorched earth" policy.
JAPANESE PAY £1250 HONG KONG COMPENSATION (Brilish Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY. March 4. It is confirmed by the Colonial Office that the Japanese authorities have paid £1250 to the Hong Kom> Government as compensation in connection witlt the bombing of Hour Kong territory a fortnight ago.
