THE WEATHER Labi Night's Forecast General Situation: The recent depression is now centred near Chatham Island, where pressure is low. An anti-cyclone covers the western Tasman and is moving eastward. Forecast: Winds .south-west to .southerly, .strong at first in some exposed positions, especially in the South Island, but decreasing and, for the most part, light to moderate. Seas: 111 New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough at first on the west coast and in the far south, but decreasing gradually and, elsewhere, slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman: Light to moderate southerly winds, later turnin" west and north-west in the southern portion: seas, slight to moderate. Weather: For the most part fair, but with considerable low doud and in places fog. accompanied „, som e localities by drizzling ram. Temperatures: Moderate to cool, To-day's North Island Report Blue skies were reported this morning at Napier and in the Bay oi Plenty but overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Mock-rate north-westerly breezes were reported at Auckland and light to moderate southerlics elsewhere. I lie barometer had risen steadily since yesterday. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were: Auckland lit) degrees, Tauranga 61, Opotiki 63, East Cape, Gisbornc, and Napier 65, and Wellington 46. Rough seas were reported at Wellington and Cape Palliser; elsewhere moderate or smooth.
