Burns Anniversary Steps are being taken in Gisborne to celebrate the Burns anniversary on January 25. A Burns Club was formed just before Christmas, and in order to make arrangements for the anniversary of Robert Burns' birth, a meeting will toe held in the Repertory rooms on Thursday evening.

Rugby Team's New Year Tour Over 20 members of the Gistoorne Old Boys' Rugby Club left Gistoorne this afternoon to spend the New Year holidays at Rotorua. The tour has been arranged by the coach of the club's junior B team, Mr. J. E. Mercer, and the party will be in camp while visiting Rotorua.

Baby Car Overturns at Waikohu While completing the last lap of the. journey to Gistoorne from Opotiki at about 8 p.m. .yesterday, an open touring car of the baby type, driven by (Mr. Hoskin, Wanganui, overturned on a straight stretch of road at Wiaikohu. Mr. Hoskin was unhurt, tout the car, the superstructure of which was damaged, toad to be righted and removed to the side of the road before traffic was able to pais.s the scene Of tihe mishap.

Morere Camp Popular The motorists' camping ground at Morere hot springs has been extremely popular during the holiday season; and at times nearly every available space has been occupied by tents. Wairoa Chilled Beef Killings The first consignment of chilled beef comprising 140 head, since the railway has been restored between Wairoa and Napier, was killed on Thursday at the works of Swift (New Zea land) Company for shipment from Wairoa on Tuesday next to be loaded into the Port Auckland at Wellington on Wednesday. Regular killings of chilled beef cattle will take place at the works from now on. Lamb killings have been maintained between Christmas and the New Year, the stock having been coming into the works steadily and in good condition. — Special.
