Karauti, a player from Waitara, taking part in the Poverty Bay and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association's annual championsip and handicap tournament on the Gisborne üb’s courts. The young Maori player is not yet '3 years of age, and has made a splen-, did impression cm those interested in he games. Miss Karauti twisted her nkle early in her match with Miss< \llan this morning when the two were playing off the final in the women s mgles, tout returned to the game after aving her injured leg bandaged. In that match Miss Allan- had an ;arly led of 5—4 and she was unable to ke advantage of three match points 'hen the score was love-40 to coni- ,- nee with. Miss Karauti went on o win that game and the following wo to take the set. 7—5. The second et was started and Miss Karauti too>\ he first three games, Miss Allan retiring at that stage feeling the effects >f the strenuous pace of the tournantut.
