ARMY APPOINTMENTS
TEMPORARY BRIGADIERS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 28. Military appointments approved by the King include that of Colonel F. K. Simmons from the General Staff officer of the first grade, British forces in Palestine and Transjordan, to be commander in the Shanghai area of British troops with the temporary rank of brigadier in place of Colonel A. F. de Telfer-Smolilett, Who is being apponued as Lieutenant-Governor of <^ue l9‘ sey, to take effect from June 5,193 J, and the appointment of LieutenantColonel J. T. Leslie, Royal Berkshire Regiment, to bo commander of the canal bridge and British troops m Egypt with the temporary rank oi brigadier in place of Colonel w. • Brooks, whose tenure expires ou October 14, 1939.
