RESERVE OF PILOTS
AMERICAN AIR FORCE PLANS FOR TRAINING WASHINGTON, Dec. 27. President Roosevelt told a press conference to-day that the United States Government would soon begin training 20,000 university students between the ages of 18 and 24 years annually as expert pilots, giving America one of the largest aerial reserves in the world. The plan would be placed on an experimental basis in 1939 with 300 students. It is estimated that the plan will cost £1,960,000. The training will give the students pilots’ licenses, but they will not receive practice in combat flying.
