LAUNCH STRATHMORE

SHELTERED AT MAHIA

After a passage of four and a-half days from Auckland the 45ft. motorlaunch Strathmore, which, has been purchased by Messrs. C. P. Bryan and A. Tocld, Wellington, arrived at Wellington on Tuesday morning. The trip down, apart from a couple of storms, was without incident.

Leaving Auckland on Deccmbci to the Strathmore went to Tauranga and from there to Mahia Peninsula, wheie she sheltered for six hours from a* south-west gale. The fore hatch was washed away and a lair amount of water was shipped in consequence, but the pumps were able to cope with this. A temporary hatch was ouilt and no further damage was .suffered on tlic trip.

The next calL was at Napier and after refuelling the Strathmore again put to sea. A heavy south-east galewas met, and she put back to Napier until it subsided.
