Gamman and Company: The mill had closed down in the afternoon for the holidays and was unoccupied when the outbreak was discovered. Chiefly as tile result of strenuous effort by volunteer fire-fighters, the fire was restricted to one section of the building. It did not reach the large stacks of timber in the yards.
