MR. CHARLES D. BEAVER,

The death of Mr. Charles Dennington Beaver at the age of 71 occurred suddenly at his residence in New Plymouth on Sunday night. Mr. Beaver’s father was in the Inniskillmg Dragoons and Mr. Beaver was born at the Colchester Barracks, Essex, England.

Mr. Beaver joined the Grenadier Guards and served for three and fithalf years with his regiment in South Africa during the Boer War, earning the rank of corporal. On retiring from the army Mr. Beaver came to New Zealand in 1906. He joined the Public Works Department but following an accident he was transferred to the Department of Internal Affairs. He served for 10 years at New Plymouth and for seven years at Gisborne before retiring on superannuation in 1932. Since then tie has resided at New Plymouth.

Mr. Beaver was an enthusiastic and popular bowler, being a member of the New Plymouth Club. He is survived by his widow.
