CRICKET UMPIRE INJURED
An umpire was injured, and play held up at St. Kilda, Melbourne, by an incident, probably without precedent in district cricket, says an Australian writer. While at square-leg in the St. Kilda-Hawihorn-East match, the umpire, Mr. A. Briscoe, put up his hand to protect himself from a hard ball from Oakley. The ball split the webbing between the third and fourth Angers. Mr. Briscoe carried on after his hand had been bandaged in the dressing-room.
