Two Versions Filmed
TO overcome various censorship regulations, the studio will film two versions of James Cagney's death in the electric chair for "Angels With Dirty Faces." One version will show the entire proceedings in shadows, and the other will show only the reactions on the faces of the witnesses.
The filming of this difficult scene was held up a day at a big cost because one of the studio cats had a litter of kittens under the electric chair. Cagney refused to have the cat moved until the next day. Motherhood came first, he said.
