DISORDERLY CONDUCT

POLITICAL INTERJECTOR PINE OP £3 IMPOSED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Charged with behaving in a disorderly manner at a meeting addressed by Mr. W. P. Endean, National candidate for Remucra, a plea of not guilty was entered in the Police Court to-day by Andrew James Dreaver who said he was a member of the Labour Party. Police said that defendant called "rot," "lies, lies, lies." A constable then warned him. Shortly afterwards, Dreaver called out "you are a liar." The chairman called to the constable: "Put that man out." This was done by force. Dreaver refused to give his name and address. He had had some drink, but was not drunk.

Defending counsel said after hear' ing the evidence, be would enter a technical plead of guilty. He said the interjections were made under provocation. Dreaver was a war pensioner suffering from neurasthenia and had been unable to work for years.

The magistrate, Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, said that had the defendant stopped after receiving the warning, it would have been in his favour. Defendant was fined £3 and costs 10s and was allowed two weeks to pay the fine.
