Electioneering Pamphlet
Reference to the pamphlet issued by the Government detailing the benefits payable next year under the Social Security Act was made by the Rt. Hon. .1. G Coatcs during his Town Hail speech in Auckland. Seeing that the Act would not come into force until April 1 next year, said Mr. Coates, the pamphlet was definitely an electioneering effort and, as such, should have been paid for by the Labour Party, and not out of public moneys. "The Prime Minister says that I issued 1(1 pamphlets," Mr. Coates continued. "I would not. be surprised if I issued more than 10, but 1 certainly did not issue a Government pamphlet during an election campaign."
