GROCERIES IN WELLINGTON SUGAR & l-'l.oi'K AFFECTED A rise in the retail prices of a number of grocery lines is likely to take place in Wellington in the near future. Burdensome restrictions governing working hours and other conditions for shop and warehouse employees, together with all-round wage increases, were given by the head of a large distributing organisation as the reason for the prospective price advances. Among the items for which increases had been decided on by his firm were sugar and flour, the old and new prices lor which would compare as follows:—Sugar: Old price, 3id per lb., all quantities. New prices, 4id per lib.; 21b., 7£d; 41b., Is 3d; 71b.. 2s 2d. Flour: Old prices, 2d for lib.: 251 b.. 4s. New prices, 2U\ for lib.: 21b., 4.U1: 41b.. U.'.d- 251 b.. 4s 3d.
