WOOL STABILISATION
AUSTRALIAN ATTITUDE ACTION NOT LIKELY CANBERRA, July 15. No action will be taken by the Federal Government to give effect to the recommendation of the New South Wales Agricultural Bureau conference that a Commonwealth plan for the stabilisation of the wool industry should be introduced, unless there is practically a unanimous request from all sections of the industry. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, said to-day that it had been the policy of the Government to act on such recommendations only when all persons concerned concurred. Hitherto the wool industry had sought to avoid rather than to encourage Government intervention. r Pending a careful examination of the proposals, it is suggested in official quarters that the constitutional limitations imposed on the Commonwealth by the decision in the James case, might greatly curtail its powers to cooperate in a stabilisation plan.
