CENTRAL TOWER

v EXHIBITION FEATURE

FINE LIGHTING EFFECTS

The most striking architectural feature of the Centennial Exhibition in Wellington will be the central tower, which will arrest attention in Centennial avenue. It will be 140 ft. high, and will contain a foyer 70ft. by 25tt., which, in the eevnt of an assembly hall being decided upon, will form the foyer to it. The tower wil dominate the whole exhibition. Two narrow stairways, one up and the other down, will give access to an observation platform. it is intended to use some very pleasing and striking colours on the tower, which will be reflected in the big reflecting pool, while as a background the tower will have a fanshaped series of coloured lights. The whole of this outstanding architectural feature will draw attention to the exhibition, not only from the surrounding portions of Wellington from which it will be visible, but from Cook Strait. Fine illuminated cascades from the tower, which will be specially illuminated, will also be mirrored in the pool. Night illuminations will play a large part in the attractiveness of the exhibition. From outside the tower will be visible, but it is from Centennial avenue inside that the best effects of the mirrored and brilliantly coloured and lit tower wiltybe seen.
