MAORI GOLF TOURNEY
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY SEMI -FINALISTS FOUND (Par Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The New Zealand Maori Goll' Association’s annual championship tournament was advanced to the semi-final stage yesterday afternoon in ideal weather conditions on Belmont links. The surprise of the day was the defeat of J. Hape. the winner, of the title in 1930 and 1930, by the youthful player, A. L. Bennett, of Wanganui. in the first round by the narrow margin of one up. Bennett shows promising form and will play in the semi-finals. The other semi-finalists are W. T. Kuru. who is defending his title. K. Tareha, jun.. and J. Mapu.
