COLD SNAP
SNOW IN WAIKATO LOSS OF LAMBS Snow came down almost to 1000 ft. on the ranges about Te Aroha last week-end. The cold, wet conditions caused the loss of 50 lambs on the high country above Mnngaiti, where the snow actually reached the held Falls of snow were experienced for the first time for many years on several hills in the Waikato last weekend. Mount PLrongia had its heaviest coat for some time. After a mild month, the cold spell had a disastrous effect on early lambs. On a farm three miles from Hamilton 50 lambs were born on Saturday night and 20 of them had died by Monday morning. A high mortality average is reported from most parts of the Waikato.
