OBITUARY

MRS. J. STEVENSON LENGTHY ILLNESS ENDS' The death occurred in the Cook Hospital to-day of Mrs. Agnes Jane Baxter Stevenson, wife of Mr. John Stevenson, and well-known especially in the Scottish community in Gisborne. Mrs. Stevenson had been ailing for some years, a'nd her death was not unexpected. The deceased was born in Banff'shire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand as a young woman. She was married here to Mr. John Stevenson. 22 years ago. and had continued to reside in Gisborne. A woman of discerning mind and of keen enthusiasms, Mrs. Stevenson was for many years a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and took an active part in its work She is survived by her husband and by two sons and three daughters, Messrs. J. Stevenson and G. Stevenson, - Mrs. E. Graham, and the Misses May and Phyllis Stevenson, all of Gisborne. Much sympathy will be extended to the members of th- 3 bereaved family. The funeral will take place on Friday at the Taruheru cemetery, following a service at the deceased’s late residence, 10 Kennedy street, at 1.45 p.m. MR. CHARLES P>. DULL A retired station manager, Mr. Charles Benjamin Bull, Winter street, Mangapapa, who had been engaged for many years in farming work in the Poverty Bay district, died in the Cook Hospital last night, aged G 9 years. Bom in Wellington, Mr. Bull took up farming as a young man and during his residence in this district he managed several stations. He had always taken a keen interest in sport. The deceased, who had been ill for only a week, is survived by his wife, two sons, Mr. A. Bull, Waipaoa station, and Mr. J. Bull, Te Karaka, and one daughter. Mrs. T. A. Snelling, Ruatoria. Following a service at Holy Trinity Church at 3 p.m. to-morrow the funeral will leave for the Taruheru cemetery. DEATH AT 94 YEARS The death has occurred at the Northren Wairoa Hospital. Te Kopuru, of Mrs. Hannah Perry, aged 94, who for eight years had been an inmate of the Clairmont Women’s Home at Dargaville. Mrs. Perry was ‘born in Leicester. England, in 1843, and came to New Zealand 54 years ago. Her first husband, ’Mr. J. Hammond, died many years ago. She later married Mr. A. Perry and they lived at Matakohe. Mr Perry predeceased her some years ago. Mrs. Perry is survived by five daughters and two sons. There are 49 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. MR. ROBERT MeSHANE The death occurred to-day of Mr. Robert McShane, aged 78, a single man. who has been in the Gisborne district for the past 15 years. The deceased was born in Ireland and came out to the Dominion 40 years ago. As- a labourer he worked in Gisborne until two years ago, when he entered the Memorial Home. He had no relatives in New Zealand. The funeral will leave Haisman s chapel at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow, following a short service, for the Taruheru cemetery.
