INTOXICATED MAN
DEATH FROM. BURNS

A verdict that death was clue to toxaemia, resulting from bums he received through falling into the lire when drunk, was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, at the inquest into the death of Ernest Charles Millar, a widower, aged 02, a former master mariner, of Grey's Avenue.
Dr. J. W. Bartrum, of the Auckland Hospital, said that Millar was extensively burnt about the arms, hands and face. His breath smelled strongly of spirits. lie died five clays later. ' An ambulance officer said that when he called for Millar he appeared to be intoxicated. Apparently he had been sitting on a chair in front of .the Are, doxed oil' and had fallen forward into the open fireplace.
