RUGBY GAME WITH COAST
A strong forward side has been selected to represent Poverty Bay in Ruatoria on Saturday in its challenge Rugby match against the East Coast Rugby Union team for the Barry Cup. A report was received this morning from Ruatoria that the ground would be in order, although heavy. The team to represent Poverty Bayis as follows: — Fullback—S. Mollis (Waikohu). Three-quarters—E. Grant (H. 5.0.8.), C. O'Rourke (Celtic), and V. Hale (Old Boys). Five-eighths.—J. Milligan (Celtic), and P. Kutia (H. 5.0.8.). Half-back.—H. Littler (Old Boys). Front-row forwards. —.1. Lockwood (Marist), J. Leach (H. 5.0.8.), and F. Twigg (Old Boys). Middle-row.—G. Phillips (Motu), M. O'Brien (Marist), J. Anderson (Marist), and W. Aitken (Old Boys). Rear-row. —R. Rogers (Celtic).
Emergencies.—Forwards: V. Kutia (H. 5.0.8.). Vickery (Waikohu), and Newton (Waikohu). Backs: J. Symes (Celtic), and P. Harris (H. 5.0.8.). The team is to assemble at the East Coast Motor Service oflicc and leave Gisborne at 7 a.m. on Saturday, returning home on Saturday night after the game. Advice was received this morning by the secretary of the Poverty Bay union, Mr. W. S. McKce, that the Opotiki team would not be visiting Gisborne on Saturday to play the High School thirds. Several of the team had measles. On account of the state of the Oval, Mr. McKee doubted if there would be any minor grade competition games played in Gisborne on Saturday.
